The proposed engagement will provide an opportunity for the Senators to exchange views on the role of upper chambers in scrutinising housing and spatial planning policies, particularly in ensuring that legislative frameworks effectively support the provision of affordable housing. Among the key areas of discussion include, but are not limited to, the mandate, mechanisms, and oversight functions of the Committee; best practices in evaluating government programmes on social and affordable housing; and experiences in spatial planning for an ageing society.
